We harvest and donate fresh produce in Long Island
9 out of 20 New York food banks report insufficient access to fresh produce. We’re here to help change that.
Are you interested in helping at one of our harvest days? We’re always looking for volunteers!
What is Second Chance Farm?
Second Chance Farm promotes farming sustainability and organic, fresh food access. We run summer harvest sessions and donate fresh produce to Share the Harvest and Food Harvest!
What we do
We organize “harvest days” in the summer in eastern Long Island. During these, volunteers pick the “ugly” vegetables and fruits, all organic, that grocery stores don’t want!
This produce is high-quality, but today, much of it goes to waste. So, we donate our collections to Share the Harvest and Food Harvest, two local food pantries in heavy need of access to fresh produce.
We aim to help further the cause of sustainable agriculture and sustainable food systems through donations and education.
